This slender painting implies a sliver of partially perceived perspective. Inspired by Janet Lewis’ poem “Lost Garden”, the garden, a perfect metaphor for the end of child rearing, the end of caretaking. Her garden is running away and so I painted Granny, pictured as a young woman, waving with fast strokes. The memory clings, like the child but time waits for no one.
