Inferno - book of photographs

Style

Description

on canvas, finished with resin

I made a series of pieces from James Nachtwey’s iconic 500-page book, inferno, onstructing this portrait of the artist from the remnants, or bits of photographs that remained.   Nachtwey calls himself an anti-war photographer, and his images often show the gruesome realities of conflict around the world.  the title references his own words: “I do not want to show war in general, not history with a capital H, but rather the tragedy of a single man, of a family.”
