The Confidence Booster
Consisting of wallpaper featuring flattering statements and a series of twelve mirrors containing lyrics from recent hip-hop music appropriated to directly compliment the viewers, the installation nods to our image-conscious culture. Thi wry presentation of soothing but ultimately superficial phrases gently satirizes its own source material, while subtly acknowledging its irresistible appeal.
ABOUT HOTHOUSE
Hothouse is a series of exhibitions, installations, and events organized by Washington Project for the Arts and taking place in the Capitol Skyline Hotel Lounge. Created as a way to provide new opportunities for WPA member artists and forge new connections within DC’s creative communities, Hothouse presents member-initiated programming on a regular basis.

About the artist
Angelo Tirambulo is a freelance graphic designer & photographer currently based in New York City. Originally from the desert of Arizona, he received his BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration in photography at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he was involved with MICA’s Center for Design Practice and worked as a freelance designer.
