Call to Artists: Submit Artwork for Collectors’ Night 2022

WPA invites artwork submissions for Collectors' Night 2022, our annual benefit auction, which will be held online on Artsy for two weeks in June and will kick off with an event and preview exhibition in DC. The auction’s theme this year—Your Presence is the Best Art—is inspired by the artist James Lee Byars (1932–1997) and celebrates our return to gathering together.

Artworks can be submitted online via this link here. The deadline has been extended to Sunday, March 6 at 11:59 pm EST.

Before applying, please review the eligibility & selection requirements carefully. WPA will split sale proceeds with artists 50-50. There is no submission fee.

Collectors’ Night raises money for WPA’s artist-organized exhibitions, programs, and projects. The sale will include more than one hundred artworks by artists living throughout the continental United States.

We welcome submissions that meet the following requirements:

• You must have exhibited in an artist-run or alternative space, commercial or university gallery, or museum in the three (3) years prior to the start of the pandemic, in March 2020.

• The artwork you submit must have been completed in the last four (4) years. Graduate work is acceptable; undergraduate work is not.

• Submitted artworks cannot have been shown in previous WPA events/auctions.

• Most forms of painting, drawing, photography, collage, printmaking (analog and digital), sculpture, and three-dimensional multiples are eligible. We are unable to accept video or sound art.

• You may submit between one (1) and five (5) artworks for consideration. We prefer to include multiple artworks by each artist, when possible, to provide choice and context for buyers.

• A portion of the artworks for sale on Artsy will be selected for exhibition in the preview event. These works must be framed, installation-ready, and in good condition. Artwork that will only be exhibited online may be framed upon sale. All artists will be asked to agree with the framing requirements upon completion of the submission form.
